November is Alzheimer's Awareness Month:
In August 1994 at age 83 Ronald Reagan was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. In November in a handwritten letter to nation he wrote, “I have recently been told that I am one of the millions of Americans who will be afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease... At the moment I feel just fine. I intend to live the remainder of the years God gives me on this earth doing the things I have always done... I now begin the journey that will lead me into the sunset of my life. I know that for America there will always be a bright dawn ahead. Thank you, my friends. May God always bless you”
HOME HELPERS honors family caregivers. November is National Caregivers month. Wisconsin Governor James Doyle has proclaimed November as FAMILY CAREGIVERS MONTH. His proclamation states “families are the foundation for long-term care for the aged and those with disabilities.” He goes on to state, “Family caregivers deserve heartfelt appreciation and thoughtful support for their dedication to providing care for their loved ones.”
